Can We Survive If We Consolidate?

The heating systems at all the other schools in the county may be crap but at pound there have been time we've had to open windows with it snowing outside because the radiator made it so hot in there. Its ridiculous to think that someone could be cold in one of those class rooms unless their metabolism is almost none existant.

I know what your talking about. At Coeburn it feels 200 degrees upstairs when the heats on, but down stairs it got rather cold in some areas. The bad part is they can't turn the heat off, so in the morning when it's cold they have to start a fire and heat the school. The problem is they can't put it out, they have to let it die out on it's own, so at mid day when it has warmed up outside the heat is still and being in an upstairs classroom when this happens is unbearable.

I remember having to cut off some of the radiators @ Pound a time or two because it was getting too hot, they had nobs on the bottom near the floor that could be turned to turn them off. Dont know the mechanics of it, just know it worked.

Fairly well written. Watch your commas and periods. But one thing I do know. If Wise County would cut Administrative salaries and perks, they would have plenty of money to fix or build new schools. I don't want consolidation, and I would rather move to an area that has small schools than put up with the garbage that comes from large schools. Large schools are too much stress for the teachers and staff. They already have problems disciplining the children they are over now, I can't imagine what would happen in a larger school. I will be the first to admit, we have some teachers that don't deserve their jobs. But if we consolidate then they will have to find room for the other school's teachers, some may lose their jobs, and worst of all, we may lose what few good teachers we have. That would be such a disservice to our children that could never be made up for. Until legislation is put forth to regulate administrative costs, and test teachers, not only on the knowledge of the subjects they teach, but also how they discipline and interact with their students, then consolidation will do more harm than good. You can not believe what the teachers, parents, and students are already having to deal with. They are all struggling to get as large of a percentage of good test scores as possible, or risk losing funding becuase of the No Child Left Behind Act. Unless you work for a school, or you are VERY involved in your child's life, you can't imagine what they and their teachers are going through. There is enough stress already on them, they don't need to worry about losing friends, teachers, jobs, positions in their academic standings, or positions in sports, things that they have worked hard for. Think about it from their point of view. Imagine being a rising senior, top of your class, then the schools consolidate, and all of the sudden you're 75th in a class of 500, and you lose your scholarships, and can't pay for college any other way. Try talking to your children before making a decision that could ruin their futures.

we are not talking about "large" schools here. We would still be at 800 students in a school a small school by modern standards. 300 students in a school is beyond small, it is tiny to be realistic about the numbers.

For the record, people can write all the anti-consolidation topics they want.

Nobody is getting banned for that, if they were, there would be others who would have been banned.

The reason Sunshine was banned is that they are another user, who is banned for multiple reasons, and keeps trying to create new names to bypass the system.

I have no problem with people having different opinions, nor do I have a problem with anybody totally disagreeing with me on a subject.

Enjoy yourself, no matter which side you are on. And if that poster is on here with another identity or has a 'friend' who is on, but not them. They need to be advised that any chance they have of coming back on, keeps getting reduced anytime they come on here and pretend to be someone else.

For someone who complains about lies and deceit, you should really look in the mirror and see how you conduct yourself.

Spuds is against consolidation, and while he may tick me off sometimes or confuse me as I can't get his logic, he has never came close to being banned. Aphrodite who is against consolidation has not came close to being banned. I actually commend them for the way they conducted themselves.

I guess this means that... hmm.... some people are for consolidation. Perhaps there's even an increasing number that are for it - maybe even people on "the outside" are for it. Perhaps this means something......
